Ok, so I knew the event was called "Family Night" but I didn't realize just how family friendly it was going to be! There were families with kids of all ages ranging from infant, all the way up to teens! We didn't bring our 3 year old daughter because we didn't think she'd sit still long enough and she'd make too much noise. Now that we went, I realize that she would have fit right in with everyone elses' kids (who, by the way, were surprisingly well behaved--maybe they were just mesmerized by the 3D movie!).
We saw The Ultimate Wave Tahiti 3D. Though Nutty and her friend didn't understand much of the "science" behind the movie, they were totally thrilled with the large waves, underwater scenes, and the overall 3D part of the movie. The best part, no one seemed to care that the girls were reaching up to try to grab things because their kids were doing the same thing! I even saw a few kids stand up! I heard lots of "ooohh" and "ahhhh" but very little "shhh". I liked that! The kids were able to be kids!
I was a little worried that the event was on a school night. I wasn't sure what time we would get home and if Nutty would be tired. No need to worry though, the movie started at 6:30pm and was done around 7:15-7:30. We were home by 8:00pm (that's with a little socialization afterward and a slippery/snowy drive home). The movie was the perfect length!
If you are looking for something different to do with your children that's relatively cheap, I would definitely consider going to a Family Night at the MN Zoo IMAX!
Every 3rd Monday of the month
Dinner provided by various companies at 5:30pm
Movie starts at 6:30pm
Adult admission is $9.75
Child admission is FREE with a paid adult!
We had no clue that the IMAX had a Family Night, but now that we know, we'll definitely be going again! Email us and let us know if you plan on going sometime, we'd love to meet you there!
*We were NOT asked to write a review post about this event as part of the promotion nor did we receive anything for this post. Jamie simply had so much fun that she decided Family Night needed a little more promotion!
